Topaz Labs recommends importing and editing RAW images for optimum results. Exporting RAW image and creating variant in Capture One This displays a window (pictured below) that generates a variant of the RAW file as a JPG, TIFF, DNG or PNG, then opens that variant in Photo AI (thus protecting the original RAW file). Importing a RAW image through the Plug-in Extras menuĬapture One exports RAW images to Photo AI by selecting Image > Edit With > Process with Topaz Photo AI from the top menu. Note that any Develop settings assigned to the RAW file are ignored by Photo AI. I highly recommend creating copies to avoid overwriting and replacing the original RAW data created by the camera. The plugin then prompts the user to choose between a copy of the RAW file or the original. Second method edits the RAW file itself (not rasterized TIFFs) by selecting File > Plug-in Extras > Process with Topaz Photo AI (pictured below). This method is helpful when develop settings have been applied to a RAW file in Lightroom, and you'd like to see those edits in Photo AI. First is opening the RAW file as a 16-bit TIFF, which can be done by right-clicking on one or more RAW files, then selecting Edit in > Topaz Photo AI (image below). When used as a plugin with Adobe Lightroom Classic, there are two methods for editing RAW files. Import TIFF/JPG copies of RAW files from Adobe Lightroom Classic.Import RAW files from Adobe Lightroom Classic.Photo AI imports one or more images through any of the following methods: Topaz Labs has not paid for or sponsored this review. Let's dive in.ĭisclaimer: I paid for Photo AI with my own money. But now that they're together, photographers can apply one, two or all three adjustments at the same time. Upscaling increases image resolution to generate new, larger images (for use as prints or other use cases) without losing detail, sharpness and clarity.īefore Photo AI, these tasks required three different apps. Sharpening intelligently fixes soft details and edges by rebuilding the underlying pixel data (instead of simply adding micro-contrast). Denoise helps remove unsightly sensor and luminosity noise without losing texture and detail. Photo AI primarily does three things: denoise, sharpen, and upscale. Photo AI is powerful enough to be used by seasoned, tech-savvy photographers, yet simple for casual photographers who simply want to improve their images automatically with minimal effort. Photo AI ($199) from Topaz Labs is a new photo enhancement application that bundles together functionality from three pre-existing Topaz desktop apps (Denoise AI, Sharpen AI, and Gigapixel AI), plus a few new tricks and features, in a new standalone desktop app and plugin for macOS and Windows. Players can also fine-tune the driver's flailing flight through the air. Holding down a key sets the trajectory angle and releasing it propels the driver forward. In the royal flush event, for example, players launch the driver so that he connects with specific cards to build a winning hand. Once again you are trying to catapult the driver through the windshield so he hits a specific target. There are now 12 Olympic-style events, up from the first game's six. The wacky, human-tossing mini-games return with more sadistic "sports" to master. The expansive environments also play fast and loose with what is or what isn't destructible, causing some trial-and-error moments as you figure out which structure or fence can be smashed to reveal a shortcut and which will act like a brick wall. Yet your car will literally plow through boulders or giant fuel canisters without hindrance. While the individual car ratings in categories such as weight and strength influence how much airtime you get during jumps and the amount of power behind hits, vehicles are prone to fishtailing and spinning with the slightest contact from a rival. The problem is that the different vehicle classes don't seem to grip the terrain properly, making it feel like you are racing on glass instead of sand, mud, asphalt, or water. The one aspect that still needs work is the physics, which are extremely loose even for an arcade-style game. Players can also select a single race, single stunt, or a single derby from the menu screen. Earnings can then be used to purchase up to 34 vehicles (including compacts, pickup trucks, and racecars) or parts upgrades in six areas, from engines and exhausts to suspensions and gearboxes. Cash is doled out for each top-three finishers as well as for landing hits on rival vehicles, with bonus points awarded for causing wrecks, flipping cars over, and inflicting the most damage on the track. From that point on, the action involves progressing through a series of themed cup races, mini-games, and destruction derbies to unlock subsequent events and earn some money. Players begin with 5,000 credits and a choice of three slow but stout derby vehicles. The career mode is once again the game's focus, only this time there are three vehicle classes to unlock as you advance through multiple events. The outdoor areas let you do both with reckless abandon. The arcade-style atmosphere wouldn't be complete without the ability to uproot trees and telephone poles like they were made out of papier-mâché, as FlatOut 2 is all about driving fast and hitting hard. Tires, fences, rocks, oil drums, and other objects will bounce, roll, and fly across the screen as if a hurricane were nearby. The courses have changed for the better as well, with each locale sporting multiple shortcuts, huge jumps, underground tunnels, lifelike scenery, and more flying bric-a-brac than a barroom brawl. Sixty course combinations are divided among forest, desert, field, canal, city, and traditional racetracks. While the core racing action remains the same, the "meat" has been heaped on to gag-inducing levels. FlatOut 2 aims to smooth out some of the original model's dents and dings, expanding nearly every facet of what made the first game a sleeper hit. It wasn't perfect, of course, but it certainly had some distinguishing features, none more so than the madcap mini-games that involved flinging a hapless driver through a car's windshield to hit bull's-eye targets. With its high-speed crashes and destruction derby events, the original FlatOut struck like a bolt from the blue for crash-crazed consumers. Smoking the competition in a racing game is one thing, leaving the competition in a smoking heap of charred metal is quite another. Oral EPO is best known for its more recent use in the treatment of systemic diseases characterized by chronic inflammation, such as atopic dermatitis, eczema, and rheumatoid arthritis. 2 Internally, the leaves were used for gastrointestinal ailments and sore throats. Native Americans valued its mucilaginous stem and leaf juices as topical remedies to soothe cutaneous inflammations, whereas poultices of the plant were used to treat bruises and minor wounds. 1 Native to North and South America and now widespread throughout Europe and parts of Asia, this biennial plant is also known by the names tree primrose, sun cups, sundrops, king's cure-all, fever plant, evening star, and night willow-herb. Optimal dosing standards and treatment regimens await clarification in adequately powered clinical trials.Įvening primrose oil (EPO), is obtained by cold expression or solvent extraction from the seeds of the evening primrose plant ( Oenothera biennis). Evening primrose oil is generally well tolerated, with reported minor adverse effects, including gastrointestinal upset and headaches. The use of evening primrose oil during pregnancy is not supported in the literature and should be avoided. However, most trials to date have significant methodologic flaws and must be considered preliminary. The current evidence suggests that oral evening primrose oil does not provide clinically significant improvement in persons with atopic dermatitis, and that it is also likely ineffective for the treatment of cyclical mastalgia and premenstrual syndrome. However, there is insufficient evidence to make a reliable assessment of its effectiveness for most clinical indications. It is often used for several women's health conditions, including breast pain (mastalgia), menopausal and premenstrual symptoms, cervical ripening, and labor induction or augmentation. It is best known for its use in the treatment of systemic diseases marked by chronic inflammation, such as atopic dermatitis and rheumatoid arthritis.
